1960-70 കാലത്ത് പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തനമാരംഭിച്ചു. 1968 മുതല്‍ ദേശാഭിമാനി പത്രത്തിന്റെ എറണാകുളം ജില്ലാ ലേഖകന്‍. രാഷ്ട്രീയ സാമൂഹ്യ വിഷയങ്ങളിലുള്ള റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടിംഗിലായിരുന്നു ഊന്നല്‍. എറണാകുളം, തൃശൂര്‍, തിരുവനന്തപുരം ജില്ലകളിലാണ് ഏറെകാലം പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തനം നടത്തിയത്. പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തക സംഘടനാ രംഗത്തും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു. തിരുവനന്തപുരം പ്രസ് ക്ലബ്/ തൃശൂര്‍ പ്രസ് ക്ലബ് പ്രസിഡന്റ്, കേസരി ട്രസ്റ്റ് ചെയര്‍മാന്‍, എറണാകുളം പ്രസ് ക്ലബ് സെക്രട്ടറി എന്നീ നിലകളില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു. ദീര്‍ഘകാലം ദേശാഭിമാനിക്കുവേണ്ടി നിയമസഭ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ചെയ്തു. പുതിയ നിയമസഭാ മന്ദിരത്തിന്റെ ഉദ്ഘാടന വേളയില്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് കെ.ആര്‍.നാരായണന്‍ ദീര്‍ഘകാലം നിയമസഭാ നടപടികള്‍ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ചെയ്ത ലേഖകന്മാരെ ആദരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തന രംഗത്തെ മികച്ച സേവനത്തിന് പുരസ്‌കാരങ്ങളും ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ദേശാഭിമാനിയില്‍് അസോസിയേറ്റ് എഡിറ്റര്‍ പദവിയില്‍ വിരമിച്ചു.......
