Foreword
The Institute of Communications is the academic arm of Kerala Media Academy. After its launch in 1979, it was decided that the Academy must consolidate its courses under an institution. The Institute of Communications at Kakkanad, Kochi was inaugurated in 1985 and the PG Diploma in Journalism course was launched a year later. In 1993, the institute started the PG Diploma in PR & Advertising.
With increasing demand for quality professionals in the television industry, the institute introduced PG Diploma in Television Journalism course in 2013. In the following years, the institute also launched a Certificate Course in Video Editing and a Diploma in Photojournalism Course.

Kerala Media Academy’s Institute of Communications enjoys the distinction of being a premier media education institute in the state. The institute offers courses that are at par with global standards but costs less than a fraction of what is charged by similar institutions in the country.With a faculty comprising experienced working professionals, the courses at the Institute of Communication prepares its students to excel real world challenges.
More than 70 per cent of Academy students are gainfully employed in various media companies across the country and abroad too.
